What must I do to be saved?

* God offers salvation to all who will go to Him in faith, believing on His Son the Lord Jesus:

Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved (Acts 16:31).

If your confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved (Rom. 10:9).

* You must acknowledge your sin and repent:

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23.

God ... now commands all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30).

To repent means to do a complete "turn-around". It means saying no to the old sinful and selfish lifesyle where I did everything "my way," and in its place saying yes to a new and holy life lived in obedience to the will of God.

* You must receive the Lord Jesus into your life:

As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (Jn. 1:12,13).

* Begin to live the christian life with God's help:

Repent, and let every one of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call (Acts 2:38,39).

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new (2Cor. 5:17).

The old life was characterised by sin, confusion, misery, hopelessness and death; the new life in Christ is characterised by righteousness, peace and joy; it is the gift of God and is eternal. God gives the Holy Spirit to those who accept His Son Jesus as their Saviour, with the Holy Spirit comes the power to live a holy life which we could never acheive by our own efforts.

* The Lord Jesus' promise is that He will never "cast out" any who go to Him in faith and repentance. He said:

All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day (Jn. 6:37-40.

He has made it easy for us to be saved, we do not have to prove anything to Him, nor can we do anything to earn our salvation, it is God's free gift, we just have to receive it from Him with thankful hearts.

*Turn to Jesus today, ask Him to forgive your sins and give you a new life of joy and peace. You will find that He is not a disappointment.
